The way it’s meant to work: Part 1 (definitions)

According to Abraham this is how the process of attraction works and what it would be like if we could eliminate our resistance.  In their “Getting into the Vortex Guided Meditations CD” (which I highly recommend)  Abraham states, “Your life is supposed to feel good to you, and you are meant to feel happiness in your life- and you are meant to satisfy your dreams.”

As always, the following terms and descriptions are my understanding and imagery of the material, garnered from Seth and others as well as Abraham.

First some definition of “terms”.

You and you

There are two parts to each of us, the part that perceives itself as being in a physical body and the part that remains in a non-physical form, what Abraham refers to as “the larger, broader part”.  I say ‘two parts’, but it is important to understand that these parts are as indivisible as your heart and the rest of your body.  One cannot exist without the other.  In my mind I sometimes think of these as ‘you’ (physical) and ‘You” (non-physical).

It might be helpful to think of these as in a video game.   “You” is the game player, “you” is the character (Mario?), with a key difference being that You can see the action from a broader perspective and at the same time see from Mario’s perspective, while Mario can act independently and does not always share the perspective of the game player.

Rockets of desire

As you play your game/life, the experiences you have stimulate a response.  This is an instantaneous response to the stimulus and often you are not even aware that it exists or what it is.  Perhaps someone has been rude to you, you instantly want to be treated more respectfully.   You might be  distracted by the information you were exchanging and only later become aware of having been treated rudely, but the response is instantaneous.   You felt the feeling right away, but it didn’t become conscious of it right then.  Think of all the times you’ve had a phone call, and much later defined what upset you, and then you come up with a snappy comeback.

These instantaneous responses are what Abraham calls “rockets of desire”, and this is “Step One” in the process of deliberate creation or manifestation.  This “rocket of desire” is a vibrational frequency which you are broadcasting.

Vibrational Frequency

All things have a vibrational frequency which is, quite literally, the rate at which they vibrate.  The examples of this we are most familiar with are light and sound (light waves and radio waves), and I like to use music as my example for this.    Certain notes sound good played with other notes, they are harmonious, their frequencies have a particular mathematical relationship.  Other notes, which have another mathematical relationship sound bad together, they are dissonant. As with many things, you do not have to know the math in order to identify what does or does not sound good together (to you).  The same is true for thoughts, and feelings. We can feel what is harmonious (pleasant) or dissonant (unpleasant).  Sometimes you meet someone who seems to be just your type, you hit it off because you are on the same “wavelength”.  Someone who you find grating is “not on your wavelength”.

According to Abraham, this harmony or dissonance is based on your “dominant vibrations”.   This can be thought of as an average taken over time and circumstances. Your vibration changes all the time according to what you are paying attention to.  A good example of this was my relationship with certain people I met when homeschooling my kids.  I found that many of the “Christian” homeschoolers were not on my wavelength on matters of religion, but we were very close on home birth, alternative medicine and many of our homeschool practices.  Another good example is my taste in music, which has shifted over time and, on occasion, with tutoring.

EGS

There is a form of communication between You and you which is intended to notify you of the next step to take to achieve what your life has caused you to desire.  It is your feeling state, your emotions.  Abraham calls this your Emotional Guidance System and it works like a GPS.  When you feel good, you’re on the path  to what your rocket of desire has created.  When you feel bad, you are not.  Thoughts are the basis of feelings  (See “Do you want to feel good“) and so Abraham tells us to choose thoughts which feel better.

The game player is always urging Mario on with what we call instinct/intuition/guidance/the still, small voice but Mario can ignore those urgings.  We in bodies, ie the Mario perspective, have forgotten that we exist on the player scale and been trained to disregard those whisperings of guidance at least some, if not most, of the time.

Resistance

This can be thought of as an old habit of thought which defines our lives as limiting in any way.  It is any thought which prevents us from being receptive to feeling good, experiencing happiness and achieving our dreams.  Any thought which includes “I can’t” or “how?” (such as “how am i going to pay for this”, or “find my true love”, or “get this all done”, etc) is resistant.
